The Sydney Flames are fired up to add Maddy Norris to the roster for WNBL26, with the dynamic 6’2” forward stepping in as a nominated injury replacement player.

Norris, 26, arrives on the back of a standout NBL1 East season with the Sutherland Sharks, where she lit up the competition with her scoring power and versatility. Her season highlight came in Round 12 against the Sydney Comets, where she delivered a record-breaking 50 points, as well as 16 rebounds and five assists.

“Playing for the Flames means a lot to me,” says Maddy.

“I grew watching them as a kid, and having the opportunity to play for your home club is always special.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in the WNBL and helping my teammates in any way I can.”

Coach's call: “She’s ready”

Flames’ Head Coach Guy Molloy said Norris’ dominance in NBL1 showed she’s ready to step up.

“I’m really excited to bring Maddy Norris to the Sydney Flames. She’s become a high-level performer in the NBL1 competition for the Sutherland Sharks and I’m confident she’ll make the step up to the WNBL.

“She’s a talented scorer, a skillful passer, and a great teammate. She’s already putting in hard work on her conditioning to get ready for the Flames’ season.

“I’m also pleased to bring another player into the WNBL from the NSW pathway.”

All eyes on Maddy

Norris has built her reputation as one of the toughest matchups in the NBL1 East as a player with the size to battle inside, and the skill to stretch defenses on the perimeter.

Her arrival not only bolsters the Flames’ frontcourt depth but also continues the club’s focus on elevating homegrown NSW talent to the WNBL stage.
