A fan favourite across the league and one of the game’s most dynamic all-rounders, Shelley arrives in Sydney bringing the toughness the Flames are chasing this season.
Still just 25, Shelley has established herself as a high-impact WNBL guard, leading the league in steals last season (2.57 per game) and cementing her reputation as one of the competition’s elite perimeter defenders.
She also delivered consistently strong performances across the season, averaging 12.9 points, 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game, influencing games on both ends of the floor.
Flames Head Coach Renae Garlepp said Shelley’s competitiveness and leadership made her a key target for the club.
“We’re thrilled to have Jaz joining the Flames,” Garlepp said. “She is a proven competitor who impacts the game at both ends of the floor. Her work ethic, toughness and ability to make those around her better make her a great fit for what we’re building.”
Shelley said she was excited for the opportunity to join the Flames and continue her development in Sydney.
“I’m really excited to be signing with the Sydney Flames,” Shelley said. “I look forward to further developing as a player, embracing the work ahead, and contributing to a strong team culture.
“I’m also excited to get involved in the Sydney community and represent the club both on and off the court.”
Beyond her on-court impact, Shelley has become one of the most popular personalities in the WNBL, known for her connection with fans and authentic presence off the court.
Her signing marks a major addition for the Flames as the club continues to build a competitive and connected group under Garlepp.
