The Sydney Flames can confirm guard Caitlyn Martin will return to the roster for WNBL26, signing on as a development player for her third year in the program.

At just 20 years old, Martin has already established herself as a tenacious competitor and a player with a reputation for lockdown defense. Her steady improvement across the past two years has been matched by an impressive NBL1 East campaign, where she showcased her ability to impact both ends of the floor.

Building on momentum

Martin’s 2025 season with Northen Suburbs Bears highlighted her growth. Over 10 games, she averaged double-digit scoring and continuing to develop as a consistent two-way player.

“Signing on with the Flames means a lot to me,” says Caitlyn.

“It's a great opportunity to keep growing and developing as a player within a professional environment I've been proud to be a part of previously.

“I'm really looking forward to continuing to develop my game by learning from the experienced players and coaches around me and contribute to the team however I can.”

Molloy back Martin’s rise

Sydney Flames Head Coach, Guy Molloy said Martin’s competitive drive and defensive edge make her an exciting part of the Flames’ future.

“For such a young player, Caitlyn is a high-level competitor, and I’m thrilled to have her back for her third year in the program.

“Her growth at the NBL1 level has been impressive and she displays elite defensive characteristics, as well as an emerging offensive game.”

From Future Flame to WNBL regular

Having come through the Harvey Norman Future Flames pathway, Martin is the latest example of Sydney’s commitment to developing homegrown players into WNBL contributors.

With her relentless work ethic, defensive presence, and expanding offensive toolkit, she looks set to make another leap in WNBL26.
