Fresh off locking in their first finals appearance in seven seasons, the Sydney Flames will look to carry that momentum into their two round 16 fixtures.

First up is the Townsville Fire on Wednesday night at Quaycentre, tipping off at 7pm, before the Hoops Capital side takes on Southside at the same venue on Saturday.

"With so much disruption this season, it's key we have two strong performances leading into finals," Flames coach Guy Molloy said.

"We've taken plenty of confidence from the past two wins in Canberra, where we've just found a way to win, and it's important we build on them this week on our home court.

"In particular, the clash with Townsville will be a pre-finals test for us, as they've established themselves as one of the top clubs in this competition over the past few seasons."

The Fire have won this season's two previous meetings with the Hoops Capital club but Molloy knows his side will be ready with plenty of adjustments this time around.

"Playing in Townsville is always tough and they got the jump on us in both those games, seeing us trying to play catch-up," he said.

"They're a team that can hurt you both inside and outside the key but we'll do our best to utilise our strengths which is small-ball right now.

"We've found ways to be effective with our current group and that all starts from being switched on defensively from the the tip.

"If we do that, the rest of our game will flow from that, especially back at home in front of our Flames fans."
