After a strong week on the training court, Sydney Flames assistant coach Renae Garlepp is confident her team will return to the winner's circle on Saturday night.

Flame #149 Garlepp and her Hoops Capital side, who currently have a 1-4, ahead of their round five clash with Geelong United - marking the first-ever fixture between the two WNBL sides.

"We're a really new group, who's still growing together and finding our way, but I'm confident we're going to turn it around - starting this weekend," said Garlepp, in an interview with SEN's Jimmy Smith on Thursday.

"We have plenty of talent on our roster, which is exciting for us and our fans but it's going to take some time.

"We've been narrowing down our focus and making little changes and the improvements have been there.

"It's about controlling what we can control - I have no doubt we're headed in the right direction."

One of the main positives Garlepp has taken from the first four weeks is how unselfish her group is.

"We've got a group who are all willing to do whatever it takes to help each other succeed, which has kept the mood among the group high, despite the losses," she said.

"Ultimately, I believe this mentality is a great asset to have and I believe it will be beneficial in the long run."

Tickets to the Quaycentre clash, tipping off at 4.45pm AEDT, are still available here.
