The Australian Gems, coached by Sydney Flames' Renae Garlepp, have booked their spot in the FIBA under 19s World Cup semi-finals, after defeating Hungary 82-76 on Friday.

The Gems, which also feature Flame #228 Bonnie Deas, found themselves down by double-digits in the third quarter, before fighting back to level the scores at the end of regulation - sending the Czechia quarter-final to overtime.

In the extra period, the Gems held their nerves and won the five-minute overtime 13-7, to punch their spot in the final four.

The Gems now play Canada for a spot in the gold medal match at 1am AEST Sunday morning.

The victor of that game will play the winner of the other semi-final in Brno between the United States and Spain.
