The Sydney Flames are inching closer to their first finals appearance in seven seasons and a win on Sunday against the UC Capitals would go a long way to cementing that.

Guy Molloy's side will go to the nation's capital full of confidence, having beaten UC on both occasions in WNBL25, including last round's thrilling overtime victory.

"I was so proud of how our group came together in that last game and ground out the win in Canberra," said Molloy, who admits these two quick games against the same opponent will have a finals feel.

"Our whole group took a lot of confidence away from that result, where our backs were against the wall and I know that will give us a lot of confidence going into Sunday.

"We know how important this game is in terms of finals, and after a strong week at training, following a short rest, our team will be ready to play Flames basketball and prove why we belong in the top four."

Sunday's round 15 fixture tips off at 3pm, AEDT on Sunday, broadcast live on 9Now.
